Why We’re Crowdfunding
Starting a homestead from scratch is both rewarding and challenging. Although we’re fortunate to have been gifted the land, there are still a few essential obstacles to overcome before we can make it our home and start building. Our crowdfunding campaign will help us with the critical resources needed to:
- Access the Land: The property is a generous early inheritance from family, but we need to demonstrate that we’re ready to move onto it and begin work. Funding will cover moving expenses and vehicle preparation so we can reliably transport materials and equipment.
- Prepare for Sustainable Living: The initial funds will allow us to begin setting up water catchment systems, recycle materials, and secure sustainable tools and equipment. This foundation will ensure the project is set up for long-term, self-sufficient success.
- Launch the First Phases of Building: With the initial funding, we can start clearing the land, grading it for erosion control, and setting up basic infrastructure, such as water storage and access roads. These steps are essential to bring our blueprint for sustainable living to life.
